Mount Hood

This is the view south from Mt Hood. In the distance you can see Mt. Jefferson (10,495'), roughly 50 miles away. The picture isn't clear enough, but I could see the Three Sisters (3 more volcanos) another 50 miles away.
You can drive to Timberline Lodge on the side of Mt Hood (strangely enough it is located right at the tree line). It sits at about 7000' elevation. The lodge is where The Shining was filmed. Most geologists consider Mt Hood to be an extinct volcano, but I gota thrill driving on it anyway.

Mt Hood is the highest point in Oregon at 11,285'.

Columbia River Gorge

This is a little waterfall in the Columbia River Gorge. Unfortunately, I do not remember the name, but it was a peaceful spot.

Multnomah Falls - the second highest year-round waterfall in the United States.

The total drop is 688 feet, if I remember correctly. You can hike to the top in a couple of hours, but I couldn't have pushed Emma's stroller up there.

This is the view from Mitchell Point looking west down the Gorge. The Washington side (left of the picture) is not as green as the Oregon side.
